CivicSource Auctioneer

The property auction authority application

CivicSource Auctioneer is a web application that allows users to bid on tax-distressed real estate properties online. The application provides a convenient and transparent platform for buyers and sellers to participate in property auctions across various states and counties.

The challenge: Enhancing CivicSource Auctioneer

CivicSource, wanted to enhance the user experience within its web application, the CivicSource Administrator. The challenge was to revamp the outdated views that had been developed with the razor view engine. The goal, to create a more responsive, user-friendly, and modern interface.

My role

In my role as a developer, I was entrusted with the responsibility of improving CivicSource Auctioneer. Here's a snapshot of my contributions:

  • Property locator with an integrated gallery: One of the exciting features I worked on was a property locator, complete with an integrated gallery. This effort allowed users to search for properties by address, zip code, city, or state, and view them on a map or a list. The integrated gallery displays the images and details of the selected property, such as the starting price, the auction date, the property type, and the parcel number.

  • Migrating Knockout.js components to React: To make sure that CivicSource Auctioneer remained technologically up-to-date, I spearheaded the migration of Knockout.js components to React. This transition not only enhanced the application's performance but also guranteed it was aligned with modern web development practices.
